Default Geo-Tech Fabric for Patio Pavers

Is Geotech Fabric the same as generic weedblocker?

Should I use it under the paverbase in a patio? Or is it a waste of money?

Geotextiles are typically used for soil stabilization, erosion control, and wastewater etc. containment.
Although they can be used in place of landscape fabric, the extra expense is typically not worth it. Go with the landscape fabric and make sure you use jointing sand to fill the gaps between the pavers.

Thanks. Geo Tech fabric is rather expensive, but supposedly, it keeps the crushed rock from sinking into the soil....

If you have a problem with sinking crushed rock, then use some of the geotech. The extra expense will be justified.

If the crushed rock sinks into the soil then you have an issue a fabric will not control for long. Deeper and differing base materials will be in order. This all depends on your local soil type. Starting with larger aggregate and working up to smaller aggregates will stop the sinking.
