    Default dishwasher installation

i installed a new dishwasher but after i ran it the first time the bottom was full of water. when i removed the drain hose from the garbage disposal and stuck my finger into the garbage disposal drain connection, it feels plugged. is there a plug in the garbage disposal that i need to remove to get the dishwasher to drain properly? if so, how to i remove the plug?

At the disposal stub connection there is sometimes a knockout/plug to be removed. If this is still in place of course the DW cannot drain.

It's easier to remove this plastic plug before you mount the unit. To remove it now, I'd recommend:
    1. unplug the unit.
    2. disconnect the discharge hose.
    3. drop the unit.
    4. with a screwdriver and a hammer slightly tap on the plug, it will fall into the unit grinding chamber. Take it out. Don't tap it while the unit is mounted up, or you'll cause damage.
    5. re-install the unit.
    6. run the dishwasher to check for leaks. If you see leaks, try to locate the sources and report back.
