    Default Front Porch needs cover

Have a brick home on slab but the front porch does not have a covering (roof overhang, etc.) and when it rains the porch gets wet. I want to have something added to the roof or the wood to cover the porch. Is this possible? should I hire someone to do blueprints first? I hope I am not too vague, we do have gutters but it only projectsa small portion of the porch. Thanks

I would say it's very , very likely you will require a building permit and inspection to add on the porch roof .
In which case you will need to submit a drawing of construction plans to the building department for approval and the issue of the building permit.

To add a porch-type roof to match the existing will likely be a bit involved and require permits, a contractor, etc. You may get by without all that by installing a metal or canvas awning. Local codes and requirements vary but if the awning will do for you, the awning installer will know if a permit is needed where you are.
