    Default Storm Windows

I live in North Iowa...cold in winter hot, hunid in summer. I only open about 5 of the 20 windows in the house...should I put screens on all the windows...or just the ones I open? I was told that if I leave storms on they tend to rot and cause sill rot because they are slower to dry out after rain....

You need to check the code in your city.

In my city, all windows must have screens in good condition, except stationary windows.

But I have tenants, some of them remove the screens, even break them and I have no way to control that, until they move out.

I really see nothing wrong in removing the screen from windows you don't ever open. If you do that, just save the screens in the garage or the shed.

As far as rot, why don't you clean the window sills every few months.
