    Question Installing Cupola and weathervane

I was wondering if having a cupola and weathervane on a building, such as our barn, needs to be grounded in any way. I don't know if they attract lightning. I have seen lightning rods on large old barns, and am told they are grounded. I just want to be on the safe side. Thankyou!

The answer is yes. Consult a local electrician for the details as required by your building dept.

I have never seem or heard of a code requiring lightening rods on barns or cupolas. We have a lot of barns and cupolas in this area, non have lightening rods.
