Composition Shingles w/Clay Tile Hip
Along the gulf coast, I have seen older homes roofed with composition shingles and using Clay Tile Hips and Ridges. Has anyone ever done this and what advice would you have? Really like the look. On really really old homes they look like the old asbestos diamond-shaped roof tiles. Particularly worried about wind storm since the house I am working on is in a coastal area.
Re: Composition Shingles w/Clay Tile Hip
I have reroofed a house like this about 10 years ago, to match the existing combination. It was the owner's choice to do it.
These tiles are secured with 16d galv roofing nails/tar and can withstand high winds, within the acceptable limits of course.
