    Default Air Return sizes

I have to replace my outdated Hydronic system with a new heat pump. The house is 1431 sq ft rancher. There are 8 supplys 4" X 10"
There is one return locatedin the hallway and directly above the air handler in the crawl space which has a 14" X 14" grill but the actual sheet metal measuring 8" deep X 16" wide. I also have a 14" X 14" Return in the living room ceiling. Can someone let me know if the return in the hallway is sized correctly.Thanks.

I read that you have two returns and the ductwork for one is 16x8, if the ductwork for the other is the same size you should be all set. You seem to be lacking on supply though, I figure you should have around 1500 CFM's. Your 8 - 4x10's are supply boots, and may have 6" round duct to them and that is only good for around 800 CFM's. If you do only have the 6 round you should consider upping it to 8 round, it will get you 1200-1600 CFM's. Make sure who ever does your new install does a load calc. and make sure you get a copy.
