Default Drywall ceiling cracks from insulation?

I've lived in my 128 year old house for 7 years. There have always been a few horizontal cracks upstairs where the wall meets the sloping ceiling. Last year I added insulation upstairs and in the last 6 months cracks have appeared across the ceiling, starting near the attic opening and now along the joins in the drywall. Do I need the structure checked or could it be from the additional insulation? Thanks.

First try to treat these cracks as random, and fill them like you normally do (see the posting of badokole, 10 minutes before your posting).
If they appear again move to step 2.

it was built in 1928? its not drywall its plaster. that happens in old homes with plaster, if filling the cracks doesnt help you dont neccessarily need to check the structure but you can drywall right over the plaster
fire up the saw and make some dust

    jkirk,

Not 1928, but 1884! Either way, not originally drywall!

Yes, it's 128 years-old; I should have mentioned someone remodeled in the 90s and put up drywall in the former attic!
