    Question Carbon Monoxide Alarm

We recently had a Kidde battery powered carbon monoxide alarm go off in our home due to a clogged furnace chimney. We were told that once this kind of alarm goes off, it cannot be reused. Is this an accurate statement?

    That's news to me.

I've installed CO alarms made by UNIVERSAL, and nowhere in the instruction book it mentioned this fact.

It says that the batteries should be replaced annually and that the unit is good for 6 years. But it doesn't say to replace it if it goes off.

Might I suggest you go here http://www.kidde.com/utcfs/Templates...%3D384,00.html and down load the user's manual.

Thanks for the replies. I did go to the Kidde website and they told be if the alarm tests ok, it should be good for up to 7 years.
