    Default Laminate Flooring (Which Direction?)

I am laying laminate flooring in an attic. I would like to lay it with the long direction of the room. Can anyone here PLEASE take a look at the layout I've attached, and tell me which wall I should start on, and which direction I should lay the flooring to prevent the most waste?

    Thank you!

You are going to have waste either way, but if you start with the 25'-13/4" wall, you will have less waste.

When you are standing infront of the wall, start from the left corner (the intersection of the 25'-13/4" wall and the 7'7" wall).

When you lay your first row, start with a full plank and when you reach the wall on your right hand side, cut your last plank to size and use the 'waste', if it's longer than 8", as the starting plank on the second row all the way to the left. Continue this way, and you'll have the least waste.

    Good luck.

Generally the flooring is laid perpendicular to the joists.

That would be with flooring that is nailed down. I believe there talking about a floating floor. In that case it can be install in either direction.

Addition to my post above: I neglected to mention that my answer is true for on slab installation (free floating, as John mentioned), since virtually all of our installations are over concrete and moisture barrier.
    Thanks John for the clarification.

run it the direcetion of the longest wall, this way you reduce the amount of cuts you have to make
fire up the saw and make some dust
