Default Remove Steam Radiators and replace with Baseboard

I live in Southern NY and bought an old house with Steam Radiator Gas Heat. I am lucky to live in a neighborhood with ridiculously inexpensive municipal electric.

I would love to permanently remove my bulky steam radiators and replace with an Electric outfit and eventually remove my boiler. Because I am on a tight budget, its it possible to remove the radiators room to room as I remodel/upgrade each room as I go? Do I just cap them off and hide the pipes below the sub-floor?

I understand that steam heat is efficient and even, however, my neighborhood has pretty much all converted to electric with bills never over $200...which doesn't compare to my HUGE winter gas bills.

    Thanks for any info!

Yes you can just cap the line or lines depending on the system.

Personally, I'd think twice before going electric. Your electric rates are low today, but they won't stay low for long. Plus you will have to factor the cost of converting.
