    Default Room redo

I am planning to start redoing the rooms in my house. Should I put plastic between the ceiling drywall and rafters? Would 1/2 drywall be ok for the ceiling? should I put new insulation in the walls and plastic on the walls also?

    thank yuo

Where I live, a well vented attic doesn't require plastic between the ceiling drywall and the roof. But the midwest could be different.

I prefer 5/8" drywall for the ceiling, with the right size screws, spaced correctly.

You're asking about installing a vapour barrier.

I'll bet if you check with your local municipal building department they will probably say you require a vapour barrier --- so --- yes , if the ceiling has an cold attic above and definately insulate with a vapour barrier the walls.

Only high density 1/2 drywall can be used for ceilings , otherwise use 5/8.
