Default Tile backsplash with granite counter

I am getting a new granite counter top. I also removed the old back splash and want to put in a small tile backsplash. Question: should I put the tile back splash in before the new counter top, or can I do it after?

tile after the counter goes in.

don't forget to leave a 1/8" gap between the bottom row of tile and the countertop, which gets caulked closed (not grouted)

Counter top first and back splash second for all types of counter tops. Makes more sense and more practical.

Incorporating kitchen tiles into the design of your kitchen is a good way to bring out the beauty of your countertops and cabinets.
