Staples in Exterior Stucco
I am a new first time homeowner and put up some lights for Halloween on the exterior of my house. I did not realize until after it was already done that I should not attach those lights to the stucco door frame with staples. The frame is under an upstairs porch so it not directly exposed to falling rain. The staples were very small and penetrated less than 1/4th an inch into the stucco. Should I be worried about damage I caused or am I being overly paranoid?
I also attached lights to wooden posts that lead up to the upstairs balacony, those posts are directly exposed to the elements. Is it potentially damaging to use staples on those?
Any advice you can offer to this rookie homeowner is appreciated.
Re: Staples in Exterior Stucco
The staples will rust, covered or not, and they will not damage the stucco and wood trim. After you remove the lights, remove the staples and repair the stucco/trim by filling the holes.
