    Default Adding texture to primer?

I'm looking to repaint and add a sand texture the walls of a bathroom. Are there any drawbacks of adding the texture to the primer and putting it on in one step, and then painting?

I would caution against a sand texture for walls, it's not very attractive, it's very sharp/gritty and will damage anything that rubs up against it.

As for putting the sand in the primer, I wouldn't. First, primer isn't as thick as paint, so the sand will drop out very quickly, resulting in spotty application of the sand at best. Secondly, without sand in the top coat, the paint will merely cover up the sand grains because it is a much fuller bodied material. If you are going to use sand to texture, you'll want it in the top coat material.
