    That's all we ever used. They stand up much better then spikes and ferrules. The area I lived in they also had to stand up to ice.

    Still trying to picture this, can you post a pic?

    There is no roof overhang, no wood fascia?..the rafters are still
    wood and even if they are flush with the wall i can't picture why you are attaching to brick.

    Designseeker,

    Let's see if this explanation helps. The rafters are attached directly into the attic floor joists. They are flush into the top of the floor joists. Then the floor joists are covered on the exterior by brick. So there is no overhang of the rafters, only brick on the outside. Does this description help you to better visualize?
