    Default Exterior Sconces

What is the proper method for wiring exterior sconces? I have framed my carport to garage conversion and I want to flank the garage door with sconces on the outside. I am installing vinyl siding and I bought the J-channel blocks for lights. The blocks are 4"x6" and about 1-1/2" deep. I figure I run romex through the sheathing and to a octoganol box and then the block over that, install the light and caulk around the light to the block. Is that the best way to do it? Is there a waterproof box for this or?

Well when we do outside lights, which i hate doing. we just stub the wire outside and then it gets sided, with the blocks installed and the wire stickign out the middle of them. We then go back and cut in boxes that will screw right to the sheeting on the house/garage. You have to get the right depth box, which isnt to difficult, theres many different box depths. then hook up and silicone around the fixture.
