    Default insulating my attic ceiling

IM sure there is a million topics on this.

My attic is half done over. On the unfinished side i want to put insulation up on the ceiling from the soffets to the peak. Do i need to put baffles from the soffets all the way to the peak and then put the insulation on top of those.

You have to ensure that the vapor will vent. If you have a ridge vent then put the baffles up to the peak. It will be better for the insulation over a long period of time. If you do you not have a vent, then you will have to close off the top of the space, giving you a flat ceiling (just like yoru attic now, but in miniature). Then the enclosed space will have to vent somewhere or you will get humidity and mold over time.
