    Default Water-resistant wainscot + Shower

Will the PVC beadboard paneling that "stands up to sloshing" shown around the clawfoot tubs in the August 2011 issue also work for a shower? If so, install over cement backerboard as opposed to greenboard and caulk all seams?

    Thanks.

Check Swanstone products, they may have what you need that is specifically designed for a tub/shower surround.

Green, yellow, or purple drywall will offer no extra protection against moisture IMHO. If you are getting enough water sloshed onto the wainscot, then you'll have water issues on the floor. If in doubt, treat the area as though it were a shower and waterproof the walls and the floor.

If they are simple butt seams the weak points will the caulked joints --- more chance of water leaking in behind. If they are half lap seams they would be far better at resisting water leakage.
There is a big difference between having water splashed from a sink or bathtub and constant water being sprayed on the surface from a shower.
Personaly, I would avoid using the panels in the shower.
