Default How do I replace pass-through Milkbox with secure Mailbox

Set into our exterior, brick wall is a combination Milkbox & Mail slot.
Its outside wooden door is falling apart. The interior wooden door is intact.
The integrated mail section is a secure metal slot.
Where can I get a [preferably steel and insulated] replacement?
Or how do I convert the whole opening to a secure mailbox?
Thanks for suggestions and leads -- Shu in Toronto

Why can't it be repaired? Sounds like you just need a new door. Things made before 1945 are generally built by real craftsmen and are designed to be disassembled and repaired. Stuff made afterwards is made to be thrown away and replaced.

Maybe post some photos and we can give suggestions. There are plenty of custom millwork shops that can probably built you a replacement door.

Cosidering the age of this mail slot, I think it would be hard to replace.

Motoguy's option to custom build a new door is much easier. Look, this old door lasted you how many years...a new door will last the same. And this time, use rot resistant wood and finish it to withstand the elements.

If you still want to replace it, inquire at custom steel fabricators. Converting the whole thing into a secure mailbox involves removing the old box, installing a new one and filling in the gaps.
