Default Drainage / Window well issue

Earlier this year we had water coming in one of our basement windows. Unfortunately, that window was under our deck, so that section of deck just came out. The question is what next? The top of the window well is at ground level and the ground is definitely funneling into the window well. I can level out the ground so it's not sloping into the window well, but with the top of the window well at ground level I can't build up the ground level to slope away.

One thought I had was digging out the current window well and putting in a new one that extends higher above the ground level. But I wanted to see what options might be available.

    Thanks!

Definately grading the soil away from the window will be helpful. However, it also sounds as though the well is not draining water down to the footing drains ( weepers ). In which case it would be advantageous to dig out the well down to the footing --- install a vertical drain tied into the weeper -- back fill the well with gravel.

Thanks Canuk - I'll dig in there and take a look.
