Installation is key. Cheap windows can run as low as $100. THese are what you'll find on most new construction. Parts fall off, the vinyl discolors, they leak and Premium high quality windows can run nearly $1000. Cheap windows are good for maybe 15-20 years tops.
Midrange might last 20-30. Premium might last 40-50, but may actually be serviceable. Marvins and some of the op of the line Pellas are the best windows, and the only thing of equal quality to many original historic windows.
I don't know the age of your house or what you're replacing. But most all windows built before 1945 are rebuildable and far higher quality than most modern windows. Their service life is 200+ years with proper maintenance.
