To pick a nit, the codes don't specify a mimimum of 2'6" (30") width. They typically specify that a wall adjacent to the water closet (toilet) be a minimum of 15" from the center line of the water closet.
So yeah, effectively it's 2'6" minimum overall. But that's not the way the code says it.
So if your space is 2'6", you're going to have to get the toilet perfectly centered in order to comply with code.
