Default Protecting entry door from UV & weather damage

My house has a west facing entry door that takes a beating from the sun. I have wondered about protecting the door with a storm door with UV reducing film or glass. A contractor that I talked to said the storm door would actually speed the damage of the entry door because of the heat it traps. Thoughts and comments?

It can depend a lot on the humidity and heat that the door will be exposed to. Over time the door will probably crack. It might be best to forget the storm door and use a good outdoor wood finish product that will protect from sunlight. Does your door not have an overhand or porch?

A screen door will block part of the solar action- it may be enough and it won't trap heat. Sometimes the simple solutions work best!
