Typically there will be support columns along the inner span of a main support beam --- commonly you'll find two columns --- up to a 40 ft running length ( more on longer runs ) --- giving 3 equally spaced open sections . As long as these cloumns are sitting on proper footings ( not just resting on the floor ) chances are the wall you mentioned is not a suporting structure and can be removed.
If you're unsure then get some advice from a professional contractor or engineer.
