Default How to protect the edges of painted steps

The wooden steps of my front porch are painted with what my neighbor calls Sika rubberized paint. It is worn through on the edges of the steps, and pealing.

I want to repaint the steps, (he said to sand the loose areas and paint over everything), and then protect the edges to keep them from wearing again. I've been searching for something, but unable to find anything, not sure what I'm looking for.

Let me tell you what you are looking for: you are looking for step guards.

I know that they make them for indoor use. They are mounted on the edges of the steps with adhesive. They could work for outdoor use, if mounted with small rustproof screws. You can find them at globalindustries dot com.

    Good luck.
