    Default Porch re-do

Our front forch is in need of some serious help. We currently have that broken brick stuff (don't know what you call it). The mortar is cracking beyond belief. There seems to be sand underneath it. I called our historic distric office and they really had no suggestions for our style of home, but whatever we choose will need to be approved first. Does anyone have any advice on what material we should use? Stone, stamped concrete, wood, ceramic tile? We have an arched (portico?) that leads to the front door. The rest of the porch exposed and to the right of the door and in front of 3 large windows. On one side of the archway, there's a brick column of about 3 feet which I'd like to cover with some sort of stone. Thanks!

Heather you can upload your pictures to a free service like Photobucket which will also resize it, then post the link or e-mail the picture top me and I'll post it for you.
