    Default 1940's French doors...

I have just purchased my first home, which was built in the 1940's. There is a patio that overlooks my driveway that is now enclosed, and is dead space in my house. My guess is that it was enclosed due to the single pane french doors, and smaller accent glass on either side. I would like to re-open the patio, and was wondering how I could "doctor" the single pane glass to make it more energy efficient. Also, I am a single parent, so the project would have to be done on a bit of a tight budget.

You can attach a storm panel of plexiglas to the inside, which will create a dead air space.
Remove not the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set.
