    Default Insulating Vaulted ceiling

Hello all, We are converting our porch into the living room and need to know how to properly insulate so we can only do it once. Details are: vaulted, 6" below other half of roof, shingled, under lament, and 2x6 and we want to use Bead board on the under side and keep the vaulted look. The only thing i can think of is too use 1/2" Styrofoam and then faced insulation to fill the void and then the bead board (Wainscoting), with eaves closed in with vented soffit, or do we need to use baffles between the joists? Much help is appreciated!! Northern Virginia area if someone is local that can help! Thanks a ton This Old House folks!

    Default Re: Insulating Vaulted ceiling

We were glad to see this posting, we are renovating a home in the Midwest USA. We've completely gutted the interior and stripped the exterior and have some insulation questions about foam vs. other. We re-framed the interior giving most of the interior space vaulted ceilings. Do we need to install baffles between the spray foam insulation and roof sheeting to allow for air circulation?
