Question air- born vine-like parisite needs to leave snapdragonsand petunias

I have found an interesting vine-like pariste (for no better word). It doesn't come out of the ground with a root system, but it wraps around the plant tightly. It likes snapdragons and petunias mainly. It has little color, almost a sickly cream. Pulling it off the plant does more harm than good . Can anyone identify it and tell me how to kill it, without hurting the surrounding plants? thank you for your knowledge.

To ID plants and insects, I use the right book. Do a little research, and you"ll can find the right answers, not guesses.

I've never seen it, but it sounds like it may be a fungus. I imagine any good full service garden store in your area would know.
