    Default Sewage Pump

    Hello,

My home is located below the city sewage system and as a result I have a temporary storage tank and pump that pumps the sewage to the main sewer line.

I didn't think about it when I was purchasing the house and did not receive any maintenance instructions and I got to thinking, do I need to treat this temporary tank like a septic system and treat it with Rid-X? Any other maintenance I need to be performing?

    Any advice is welcomed,

    Thanks.

The tank should be cleaned, similar to a septic tank. How often depends on the usage and the size of the tank. They will get a soap and grease buildup than can cause problems. I would call a septic company and have it cleaned. He should be able to tell you how often it needs to be serviced.
