Question, why do you need a portable when it's permanently affixed to the plumbing? I would be inclined to buy or build a cabinet (matching the existing kitchen units ) to attach to the wall, then install a standard dishwasher in it. You'd need about 30" or 32" between the stove and the door to fit this set-up, but it would be a lot cleaner installation.

The cabinet is basically two end wall pieces, which can be purchased premade, with a piece of counter over the top of them. You could probably salvage the butcher block top from the existing DW to use as the countertop. This would be cheap and easy, probably more so than trying to gut the portable.

As far as gutting the portable, the outer case should be attached around the front and back with a few screws, then lift off. Trouble is, the new unit isn't going to have the mounting flanges that the old one does, so getting the case to align and fit properly will be a chore.

    You're welcome.

This is why it's always important to give as many details as possible and pictures if possible. When we have a clear idea/view of what's going on, it's much easier to suggest remedies to suit your needs.
