This is related to an Article by This Old House regarding Basement Flooding and the Danger of Electrified Water. It has me concerned and I would love an answer to my related question: If there was to ever be flooding in my basement, at what point does the water become electrified? Is it when it reaches the first bit of electrical devices? - in my case that would mean the water pump, and next would be the outlets (they are about 15 inches from floor level). Or is it when it reaches the service box? (which is about 4 feet above the floor level) The service box is in the basement and it is the only way to shut off the main power. (our water is supplied from our own in ground pump system)
thank you!
