    Default California Lilacs

Need advice re: California lilacs which may have been damaged due to cold winter weather. The tops of each plant seem to be okay but the bottom/underneath do not have any new growth.
Climate in Vancouver BC is similar to Seattle .... some frost/snow during winter. Should I prune/cut back by 25%? Start over with new plants? Leave alone as they might recover? Would appreciate advice. Thanks.

I have a beautiful california lilac. It faces south, gets lots of sunshine. Live in Delta, BC. It grows so abuntantly so even if I prune it in March it will grow more and be full of the little blue flowers by June. Doesn't require much fertilizer. Its a perfect shrub. But full sun is an asset.
