Default Steam cleaning: safe for wood and tile floor?

Is it safe to steam clean wood floors? And what about tile? My wife seems to think it is but I've been reading mixed things. Most advice recommends against it but I'm not sure why.

With a well sealed floor and the right steamer, it's possible. The key factor is that the steamer emits a "dry" steam, which is a high temp, low moisture steam. Steamers from Eurosteam/USsteam or the SteamFast SF275 put out dry steam. The average steam mop doesn't heat hot enough to put out dry steam, so you end up with a machine that spits water or saturates the mop bonnet quickly. I prefer general household steamers over steam mops because they achieve higher temps, dryer steam, are easier to use, are more versatile, and last longer between refills.

For tile, absolutely. Fastest way to clean grout too, without using bleach. You end up with a lot of water, but if you follow it up with a shop vac, or an all in one steamer vacumn, you're good to go.

Not if you've got a good steam machine. The ones I mentioned are very good.
