We have a dining room with exposed timber rafters (4x10) with tongue and grove wood paneling on top. The paneling is directly beneath the shingled roof. We like the look of the exposed timbers, but the complete lack of insulation makes the room very cold in the winter.

We would like to put some of that rigid foam insulation directly on the paneling and cover this with drywall, leaving a good percentage of the timbers still exposed. However we are concerned about condensation / moisture problems. Does anyone have suggestions on how to address this issue, or if it is an issue at all.

Thanks,
-Eric
