    Default metal door

How is a metal door built and made so that I can repair my metal outside door. It looks like metal around the deadbolt is coming unglued

They usually are a metal casing with a foam center. Good ones have a wood block at the locks and hinges.

    Hey Bro,

A basic steel exterior door is built with a simple wood or composite frame usually about 1 1/2" thick. Where the door handle and dead bolt are located there is a lock block, which is a solid piece of wood. The lock block is there to add strength to the handle set and dead bolt. The steel is just a thin skin that covers the frame. In the middle, in between the two steel skins, there is usually foam insulation, polystyrene or polyurethane. -Gregg
