    Default steel door

I ve just installed a steel door and by the inside of the house it feels cold as ice. I think I purchased the wrong door. What should I look for so that the door is warmer on inside.

Many steel doors, even if insulated can feel cold inside for a simple reason; the metal on the outside surface of the door wraps all the way around the door. Thus the cold* travels through the metal from the outside and makes the inside feel cold, sucking up the heat from inside your home.

The suggestion is to look into fiberglass or solid wood doors.

*Yes, I know there is no such thing as 'cold' only the absence of heat. But our US English doesn't have the vocabulary for this physics lesson.

With steel doors you want to see a separation between the outside steel and the inside steel. That is an insulator such as wood or rubber gasket between the two halves.

Don't know about you folks down there but, all our residential steel doors have the outer and inner skins separate

Duct taping caribou hides to the back of the door doesn't count.

Ah ,but we chew the hides first --- this makes them soft and pliable to work with.
