    Default Sealing recessed lights

Recently I bought some IC rated recessed lights to be installed in an insulated ceiling. Some of the boxes have a stamp indicating they are airtight some of them do not. What would be the best way to seal the ceiling opening? Can I caulk my vapour barrier right around the edge of the can, or should I make a sealed enclosure of drywall to go over the entire housing ( if so, how big).

Howdy, the heat rises in the can so leaving 3 inches around and above the can is so it does not over heat is the norm unless the individual can states other wise. Assuming your visqueen is below the canister installing the drywall and a light bead of caulk would be my choiice.
