    Default Soffit venting

I need to add soffit vents to my house. Are the long continuous grille style vents better than the individual porthole kind where each vent is inserted into it's own circular hole? The porthole style appear much easier to implement.

the porthole type is probably easier, all you need is a hole saw that matches the size of the portholes and of course a corded drill
fire up the saw and make some dust

I just added 28 3" circular soffit vents and notice a significant difference. I could not put in the rectangular vents, which I understand is the way to go, due to my roof having exposed beams (rafters) every 18 inches. If your soffit allows for it, I would suggest the longest rectangular vent - I believe I saw them at HD which were 3 or 4 feet long.

Eitherway, make sure you also have a ridge vent to have a constant circulation of air in the attic.
