We've got a below ground oil tank we want to replace with two above ground tanks, but there is no way to get them into our basement without first constructing a hatch door. This I imagine could be expensive, and the basement is not the driest one on the block. Also, it's a very old house and I'm concerned about weakening the foundation by cutting into it. The home heating oil company told us that in winter (it's cold where we are in the western Catskills), we would have to switch to kerosene if we located the tanks outside, which would cost, at current rates, 40 cents more per gallon, and they do not offer pre-buy for kerosene as they do for oil. Thus the incentive to locate the tanks in the basement if there's a way. Thanks
