    Default Leaky Shower faucet

We bought this house 4 years ago. Our upstairs bathroom shower faucet (hot) is leaking into the tub. Water drips down from the knob. With hopes of replacing a washer or discovering how to solve the problem, I shut the water off, removed the knob and found a single stem (see image)that would not unscrew or come off. The back of the connections is brass and stamped "Gerber" (image 2). Any idea how to fix this ?

Did you use a set of faucet wrenches while trying to remove stem? A small amount of penetrating oil will help
