I purchased our home last June and have never seen or dealt with overhangs like my house has. The home was built in 1984 as a huge addition to a 1953 Mobile home. The middle is a 24x29 living room which has a cathedral ceiling inside and four foot overhangs covering decks outside. The overhangs are literally 2x6 ends of the trusses sandwiched between shingles, sheathing and the bottoms are covered with vinyl soffett vents. (They extend out away from the house approximately four feet on both the front and back)
My problem is severe ice dams even after the fact that I raked the roof back 5 feet every storm this winter. How can I fix this issue? Knowing how to fix the venting and insulation in a normal roof where I have access I am boggled at how to fix this issue.
