    Default Hardwood Floors On Wall

    Hello -

I see there has been some discussion regarding the instillation of Hardwood Floors on a wall, but the questions that I have doesn't seem to be answered. Would the weight of engineered pre-finished hardwood be too heavy for the wall? Would a flooring such as pine or bamboo be better because it is a lighter material? I am planning on installing the hardwood T&G method, 16" on center 8'x10' studded wall, also thinking of installing mdf/plywood onto the wall before putting up the hardwood (horizontally) just for extra support and a true flat surface. Some thoughts and insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

the extra weight wouldnt be an issue, however i wouldnt use mdf, as that would add a ton of weight, youd be better off simply using 1/2" sheathing grade plywood
fire up the saw and make some dust

Thank you for the fast reply, when would weight become an issue on this project? I would be installing the flooring on the outside of a stairs wall.
