Ice Storm Damage to plants and ivy-what to do?
We had a terrible ice storm. Many limbs fell and damaged different areas of our yard. I have two questions...
1-August Gardenia - We just planted these last summer. They WERE beautiful. They were damaged badly. I have cut off what was noticeably dead. Now do I leave it, or cut it back to the ground??
1 - IVY... We had damage to our ivy as well. The ivy was spreading over a beautiful landscaped area. Some of the IVY is still long but appears to be completely stripped of foliage from it's starting point (probably it has been spreading for many many years.) The vines are stripped of any foliage - perhaps about 4 feet, then there are leaves, altho they don't look so good right now. Should I just watch it and see if the bare spots get leaves again, or should I cut it way back (I'd hate to do this!)
Any help/suggestions to these two problem areas will be greatly appreciated.
