    Default sink drain

I am attempting to replace the drain on a cultured marble bathroom sink. With all the pieces correctly(?)in place, the water bubbles out around the rubber gasket at the bottom of the drain. Unless the sink is porous,I can't see how the gasket allows water to leak past it.n I haven't run across this problem in my nearly 1/2 century of diy. Any help out there for me?

I'd start from the top and caulk under the drain ring on the top side. Make sure there are no boogers on the bottom side where the gaskets sits keeping it from making a nice tight seal. Also maybe you need to tighten some more on the nut trapping the gasket, or maybe you got a bad fitting gasket to the threaded tailpiece.

Just some suggestions since it is hard to see from here!

I'm old school --- still use plumber's putty on the inside bowl strainer flange and haven't had issues.
