    Default load bearing wall ???

    hello everyone

i am new to this board i enjoy watching this old house...

i have question i have two rooms and would like to make them into one large room, there is a wall between them it runs perpendicular to the floor joists above and below there is a similar wall above on the second floor. in the basement the space is completely open with nothing in the middle that is transferring the load from above. could that mean that is not a load bearing wall and i would not to build a flush header to support the load from above.

    any advice would be appreciated
    thank you

    tony

stick your head up in the attic and look to see if you have trusses or rafters.

the basement might have a steal flush beam
fire up the saw and make some dust
