    Default removing newel light

Our 1864 Gothic Victorian boosts a lovely brass newel light.

The only problem is the light is the one thing standing between getting our new, non-returnable queen-sized box spring up to the second floor.

Does anyone know how to remove the light from the post? I can't find any screws or threads. There do appear to be some interior clips where the light meets the square brass box on the top of the newel. I don't want to damage the light...nor do I want the box spring a permanent feature of our entrance way!

    All advice and suggestions welcome.

I've never seen one of them before.. if it was me id do the Chevy Chase method from X-mas Vacation and get out the chain saw. however you dont wanna damage anything, sayin that there has to be something that would unscrew from either the top or bottom.. good luck!
