    Default water heater

can someone tell me what would happen if you hooked up a natural gas hot water tank to propane without the conversion kit?

You would get a very yellow flame that would soot up the heater in a short period of time. Not to mention the danger to you and your family. Don't even think about doing it.

It would be bad. Natural gas orrifice is larger that propane. Also porpane is under more pressure than natural gas.
    DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will probably have a hard time finding anyone who can answer this accurately without visiting your local hospital burn unit.

Think ka boom. Or waking up dead from carbon monoxide poisoning. How about an insulation blanket around the water heater instead.

    As said several times before....

    ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

The conversion is not difficult, and a lot cheaper than replacing house and furnishings. Propane burns hotter than gas as well.
