    Default 3-way switch

I have a lighting fixture that is controlled by two (2) 3-way switches. I have replaced one of the 3-way switches with a rotary dimmer. Consequently the other 3-way switch no longer works. On/off positions do not work and the light turns on or off when half way between on and off. Can I do anything to make it work? If not can I remove it and place a blank cover plate over it? If I can disconnect it do I join the existing black and white wires together and cap the red wire separately? Thank you, Duncan Brown

Did you install a 3 way dimmer and correctly attach the *common* and traveller wires to the appropriate terminals?
